The Need for Change: Addressing Key Customer Concerns

Valutek’s new cleanroom butterfly mopping system was designed to solve several common pain points faced by cleanroom operators:

    • Cross-Contamination Risks: Reusable mop heads can deteriorate over time and can be a source of contamination.
    • Operator Fatigue: Traditional mops are often heavy and cumbersome, leading to shortcuts and reduced cleaning efficacy.
    • Ineffective Commercial Mopping Systems: Many cleanroom operators try to adapt industrial mops, resulting in suboptimal cleaning and maintenance.

Cleanroom managers have a clear vision of how their controlled environments should be maintained, but many available mop systems fall short.

The Solution: Valutek’s Butterfly Mop System

Specifically designed with cleanrooms in mind, the Valutek butterfly mop system addresses these challenges with an innovative approach:

    • Lightweight Design: The mop’s low-profile aluminum swivel head and adjustable stainless-steel handle make it easy to maneuver in tight spaces, reducing fatigue and enabling more thorough cleaning across floors, walls, and ceilings.
    • Two Mop Head Sizes: The 16-inch mop head is designed for vertical surfaces and ceilings, where the cleaning process is less rigorous, while the 24-inch mop head is perfect for floor cleaning, providing greater coverage for the dirtiest areas.
    • Glove-Friendly, Easy-to-Use: Unlike traditional mops with plastic push-through connectors that tear gloves and introduce contaminants, Valutek’s butterfly clasp design is glove-friendly, allowing for effective and easy wiper attachment.

    Reducing Cross-Contamination Risks

Mopping systems that involve frequent dunking and rinsing can introduce contaminants if not properly handled. For example:

    • How many times has the mop head been dunked?
    • Who mixed the cleaning solution, and to what specifications?
    • Has a contaminated mop head been dunked into the cleaning solution?

Valutek’s butterfly mop system eliminates this risk with disposable wiper attachments designed for different surfaces and environments:

    Part # Description Features Applications
    VTSNTR Nonwoven cellulose-polyester wiper
    • High chemical compatibility
    • High absorbency
    • Low abrasion resistance
    • Moderate particle counts
    • General purpose and environmental cleaning
    • Smooth surfaces
VT2PNWUS 2-Ply ultrasonic sealed polyester wiper
    • Ultraclean
    • Very low particle count
    • Very high absorbency
    • Sensitive environments
    • Raised grid floors
    • Rough surfaces

Wipers are available in both dry and pre-saturated versions, eliminating the need for operators to mix chemicals, ensuring consistent cleaning results, reduced chemical exposure risks, and minimized handling errors.

Mop head wiper attachments come in a standard 16-inch size, providing 4 wiping surfaces when properly folded, or an 8-inch economy size, providing 2 wiping surfaces – front and back.

    Deterioration of Launderable Mop Heads

As with all reusable products, launderable mop heads are subject to deterioration over time. If the number of washing cycles and laundering process isn’t carefully monitored, mop heads can begin shedding particles that aren’t immediately noticeable. Once particles are visible to the human eye, it’s often too late and the critical processes of the cleanroom have already been at risk.

To add another layer of complexity, if the laundering process is not done effectively and consistently, some contaminants from soiled mop heads are inadvertently transferred to clean ones. This cross-contamination can compromise the cleanroom environment and impact the quality of sensitive products or processes.

Valutek’s single-use wiper attachments eliminate these problems and allow for a more tailored cleaning approach.

    Operator Fatigue

Reducing operator fatigue is essential for ensuring proper cleaning techniques. Heavy, cumbersome mops can discourage rigorous cleaning, especially in hard-to-reach areas like corners, walls, and ceilings.

Valutek’s lightweight, low-profile aluminum swivel head and adjustable stainless-steel handle ensures effortless maneuverability, making it superior for hard-to-reach areas like corners, ceilings, walls, and other confined spaces.

    Lack of Compatibility with Cleanrooms

Commercial and industrial mopping systems aren’t always compatible with cleanrooms, especially in the most stringent Class 1-10 (ISO 3-4) critical environments.

Valutek’s mop system, specifically built for these environments, uses compatible materials to ensure adherence to cleanliness classifications.

    The Valutek Difference: Cleanroom-Specific Design

Valutek adapted decades of cleanroom wiper processes and methodologies to design a mop specifically for controlled environments. The robust process in place for how to use a wiper to clean a flat surface were translated into a mopping system, ensuring efficiency and reducing contamination risks.

    Commitment to Quality

All Valutek mop systems undergo testing and are manufactured in ISO compliant facilities under Valutek's inspection and rigorous process control to maintain Valutek's high-quality standards and product specifications

By following IEST’s IEST-RP-CC018 guidelines for cleanroom cleaning, operators can maximize cleaning efficiency and ensure proper contamination control.
